A native of Berlin, Germany, I moved to the United States soon after the Berlin Wall crumbled in 1989. I led a fast-growing technology company before being recruited to drive a new start-up venture in late 1999, serving for seven years as co-founder and chief executive of the health services company MediGuide. During this time I led its successful business development initiatives in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
I served as President of Freeh Group International Solutions (FGIS), a global risk management firm founded by former FBI Director Louis Freeh to assist multinational corporations with corporate governance, compliance and high-level security needs.
I also served as a non executive director and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of International Assistance Group (IAG), a Paris-based alliance of independent medical, travel and security assistance companies with offices in more than 40 countries around the world. I am Chairman of the Board of PT AA International Indonesia, a Jakarta-based company that offers a wide range of services in the healthcare and insurance industries. In a return to my native Berlin, I also oversee global business development for Germany’s largest startup ecosystem Factory Berlin, a next-generation business club fostering innovation.
My commitment to advanced cyber security oversight at the board level is demonstrated by my CERT Cyber Security Oversight accreditation from the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), Ridge Global, and Carnegie Mellon University.
I am an inspiring public speaker devoted to health equity and wellness, serving on the Boards of the American Cancer Society and the ACS Cancer Action Network. And I am also a seasoned wine enthusiast who, along with my wife Claire, enjoys hosting wine tastings in my cellar for friends and colleagues from all over the world.
