A native of Berlin, Germany, Michael Marquardt moved to the United States soon after the Berlin Wall crumbled in 1989. He led a fast-growing technology company before being recruited to drive a new start-up venture in late 1999. Michael served for seven years as co-founder and chief executive of the health services company MediGuide and led its successful business development initiatives in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Michael served as President of Freeh Group International Solutions (FGIS), a global risk management firm founded by former FBI Director Louis Freeh to assist multinational corporations with corporate governance, compliance and high-level security needs.
Michael serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of International Assistance Group (IAG), a Paris-based alliance of independent medical, travel and security assistance companies with offices in more than 40 countries around the world. He is also Chairman of the Board of PT AA International Indonesia, a Jakarta-based company that offers a wide range of services in the healthcare and insurance industries. In a return to his native Berlin, Michael also oversees global business development for Germany’s largest startup ecosystem Factory Berlin, a next-generation business club fostering innovation.
Michael’s commitment to advanced cyber security oversight at the board level is demonstrated by his CERT Cyber Security Oversight accreditation from the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), Ridge Global, and Carnegie Mellon University.
Michael is an inspiring public speaker devoted to health equity and wellness, serving on the Boards of the American Cancer Society and the ACS Cancer Action Network. He is a seasoned wine enthusiast who, along with his wife Claire, enjoys hosting wine tastings in his cellar for friends and colleagues from all over the world.
